January 10 Board Meeting

Members Hear About the Cross Florida Canal
at the 2010 Annual Meeting
Hayride at the 2010 Annual Meeting

At its meeting on Monday January 10, the Friends Board set plans for the Annual Meeting on Saturday March 5. In addition to voting on the proposed slate of Board members and officers for the next term, members will learn about a Paddling and Nature Guide Project that is getting underway. Board members Mark Gluckman and Russ Hall have been discussing some ideas related to this project on Random Ferments, a blog Russ authors. Members will talk about how we can create even more support for the Refuges. We will indulge in our traditional, fantastic, southern-style lunch. In the afternoon there will be hayrides, hikes, and other activities. More information will be in the upcoming issues of the Ibis and the electronic newsletters.

The Board also decided to continue the electronic newsletter and the Friends Facebook page, which had been under evaluation for a couple of months.  If you are a Facebook user, we encourage you to go to our page, Friends of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Key Refuges, and "like" it. Add comments and photos so we can stay in touch with each other and attract more Friends to the refuges. Thanks for all the very helpful feedback on these initiatives.

The Draft Minutes of the meeting are posted on the Minutes and Bylaws tab above.
