Red Maple

Lots of positive response to this photo, made of a flowering tree on Cedar Key on January 21, 2011, so up it goes on the Friends web page. This plant is bursting out in blossom all over the refuges.

A remarkable tree for its wide range and evident adaptability, red maple (Acer rubrum) occurs from the Everglades to Newfoundland.
