The Community Lectures held at the Cedar Key Public Library and organized by library manager Molly Jubitz with input and assistance from a collaboration of community groups, including the Friends of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys NWRs, begin again this month. Many are related to the interests of the Friends of the Refuges. Check with the Library to confirm times and to see what lectures have been added. This is a dynamic series.
- Thursday morning January 15, probably at 10:00 AM, will be the first of four Historical Society Coffees. Friends member Ken McCain will speak about Wildlife on Seahorse Key.
- Thursday, January 22, Friends member Maria Sgambati will talk about Mindfulness - What it is, What it's good for. That will probably be at 5:00 PM.
- Thursday, January 29, Vic Doig, the Refuge Fire Specialist, and Chris Camargo, from the Scrub State Park, will give a Fire Awareness Program. It is tentatively scheduled set for 5:00 PM, but check on the time.
- Saturday, January 31, Kathy Dobronyi, a story teller from Citrus County, will, in her character of Dolores Cribbs, a Cracker woman, tell the history of Florida's Railroads. That will be at 10:30 AM.
- Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 10:30 AM, the Garden Club was present a program on Long Leaf Pine.
- Thursday, the February 5 at 5:00 PM, Friends member Allan Pither will talk about Hurricanes.
- Thursday, Feb. 12, Friends members Libby Cagle and Roger McDaniels will give a talk on Cuba and their travels there.
