Ahoy Paddlers!
Find treasures, more valuable than gold but not spendable. The waters of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges will enrich your spirit of adventure.
Paddle into the biozones of 12 water trails. Look through the spyglass to see habitats and inhabitants. You will find that many of them can only be seen from the water. The panels on this website were prepared by the Friends of the Lower Suwannee & Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges. They will help you uncover the riches of these waters, the real treasures of these refuges.
Welcome to our paddling website. Paddling the refuges provides a close-up interaction with the wildlife-centered environment that the refuges protect. The Friends designed these 12 paddles to assist you in your exploration of the isolated wonders of the refuges. Most of the refuge areas are accessible only by water, and many only by paddling.
The Overview page shows all 12 paddles and provides a description of each. Use it to help you choose a trail that fits your navigational and paddling skill and traverses the type of environment you want to experience.
Each trail has its own tab where you will find detailed, downloadable information describing the biozones through which the trail travels and navigation specifics. The downloadable panels are free for your personal use. They are copyrighted by Friends and may not be sold or used for any commercial purpose without permission of Friends.

We also developed paddling panels for each trail. They are laminated, grommeted 11 x 17 pages suitable to take with you on a paddling trip. Created by the Friends, their graphic design and printing are funded by a grant from the Fish and Wildlife Service.
You can borrow the panels at refuge headquarters. They can be used for free and returned to be re-used by another paddler.
While they last, they also are available pro bono to libraries, select paddling clubs, meet up groups, outfitters, marinas, and similar places where they might be useful to a large number of paddlers. If you would be interested in having a set, email us at [email protected].
